Differences between the Desktop and Mobile versions of ShapeThatBody:

One difference between the two is that the desktop version contains more images and larger files than the mobile version. For example, the desktop version does have some very long lists of foods with their nutritive values. These files are just too large to download with a mobile device. You can always sign on using your desktop computer to view these.

Another difference is that the mobile version does not use any javascript, everything is done on the server. This means that as long as your mobile device can view web pages (html and jsp files in particular), you should have no trouble accessing the mobile site. The two versions are fairly similar in most other respects.

Navigating through the ShapeThatBody Web pages

 

Remember you can always hit the back button to return to a previous page.

When you find a good web page you can do one of the following:
  • Print the page

  • Save the page on disk. Click on File, then save as

  • Send the page to yourself by e-mail. Just click on file, then send, then send link or send page.

  • Bookmark the web page by pressing Ctrl D.

What do I do if a link doesn't work?

The web changes constantly and sometimes web sites move files, and the links become stale or broken. We always provide you with the full URL and if a link doesn't work, there are a few things you can try. Try backtracking, i.e., remove the last part of the link and try the url, and so on. For example, let's say the following URL doesn't work anymore: http://greatfood.com/recipes/fruit_salad.html You could try this URL first: http://greatfood.com/recipes/ If that doesn't work you could try http://greatfood.com (Please note: the above are fictional URL's) You may be able to reach the web site this way. If you still can't find the site, you can try doing a search for key words related to the web site. If that doesn't work, you can send an e-mail message to help@shapethatbody.com and we will try to fix the link. In some cases web sites are taken down, the link may be gone forever. For this reason, if you find a really great web page, print out a copy for your records.

How do I get rid of the red color on the links that I have visited?

After you visit a link, it turns red. This is to help you keep track of the areas of the site you have already visited, and hopefully it will save you time. There are two ways to get rid of the red color.

  1. You can close all of your browser windows and then relaunch your web browser again and the red color should be gone.
  2. In Internet Explorer you can do the following: Tools -> Internet Options -> Click on the 'Clear History' button

Problems connecting to the web site :

If you have a problem connecting to the ShapeThatBody web site with your web-enabled cell phone or handheld device, try connecting to a different web site. Sometimes cell phones and handhelds lose their wireless connection so you may have to move or wait until you are reconnected to the network.

Problems signing in to your account :

If you can't sign into your Shapethatbody account, please check the following:

  • Make sure you are typing in your username and password correctly. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure your caps-lock is not on.
  • Make sure you have not lost your wireless or Internet connection.
  • Close your web browser completely and then launch your browser and try again.
  • Try a different web browser.
  • Try a different computer.

Connection Timing Out:

In order to keep your account information secure, you will be signed out if you are not active for a certain amount of time. This is so that other people cannot access your account if you forget to sign out on a public computer. All you have to do is sign in again with your username (email address) and password.

Accessing the Mobile ShapeThatBody web site with a wireless device :

The mobile STB site should work fine with wireless handheld devices such as the Blackberry, Treo, Palm, PocketPC and Sidekick. However, if you move out of range and get disconnected from your wireless provider, you will have to sign on again to ShapeThatBody when your device is connected again. Don't worry, your data will still be there, even if you get disconnected.

Many newer cell phones have web browsers built into the phone that can access web pages. You should not have a problem accessing the web pages with your mobile phone if it can view html web pages. Some phones do not have web browsers and you probably will not be able to access the web site with this type of phone. If you are not sure of your phone's web capabilities, you can check the owner's manual, the web site of the manufacturer, or you can contact the manufacturer of your phone to see if your phone can be used to view web pages. In any event, you will always be able to use ShapeThatBody from any desktop computer that has a web browser and a connection to the Internet.

Slow Connection with cell phone or handheld :

This could be caused by a poor wireless connection. One thing that might help is if you turn off images in your web browser, and just load the text only. The ShapeThatBody mobile web pages have been specially designed and optimized to load quickly.
